Great Britain is involved in WWI because of the rise of militarism. Briain is rivaled by Germany by their militarism for the srongest navy.
Germany tried to end the war quickly while Britain wasn't in the war. Germany tried to defeat France by going through Belgium. But Britain has a treaty with Belgium so when Germany went through and destroyed it Britain declared war on Germany. Which forced the German army to reteat back to Germany and Britain had now joined WWI.

After the assassination of the Archduke of Austria-Hungary and word got out about war between Austria-Hungary and Serbs, Britain didn't want to get involved. Because of the alliances Russia and France had to fight along with Serbia and Germany fought with Austria-Hungary. When Germany tried to defeat France by going through Belgium, Britain having a treaty with Belgium had to enter the war to protect Belgium from Germany.

The battles of the war are long and deadly especially the trench battles. For days its impossible to do anything, unable to advance with the machine guns pointed at us. No one knows if they'll be safe if they go out of the trenches. For weeks even we could be immobilized by the machine guns.
To win this war we can't keep going into a stalemate in these kind of battles. We have to keep men on the front lines and have others around go the battle and into Germany. Thats how we can win, by getting our men into Germany and attack them from the inside.
Russia leaves the war and USA joins the war.
The war has become much more difficult now that Russia has left the war and now it is an one front war and Germany has the advantage. Because Russia was tearing itself apart. Russia wouldn't of been able to survive everything that was happening in Russia and the war at the same time. So Russia had to get out the war while they were still able to. This created a huge disadvantage to us and the rest of the Allies.
After the Germans destroyed a cruise ship killing hundreds of passengers including Americans and sending the Zimmerman letter to Mexico, America has joined war with us against the Germans. With the Amerian's on our side it helps to make up the lose of Russia. Now we again have a chance to win the war.

David Lloyd George (Prime Minister of Britain) was afraid that if France became to powerful then he wouldn't be able to preserve the British Empire. Prior to the war the Treaty of Versailles was a mixed blessing to Britain by keeping Germany's military (including navy) from becoming as powerful as it was during the war.
